In the heart of Barrio Logan, less than 20 miles from the United States-Mexico border, Chicano Park stands as a symbol of culture, resistance, and community pride. Chicano Park Day celebrates Chicano culture, history, and resilience, with roots dating back to the 1970s, when Barrio Logan residents protested the loss of land promised for a community park after plans emerged to build a highway patrol complex near Interstate 5.
